In this next step workshop, learn how to confidently use Manual mode with your DSLR or mirrorless camera, while exploring your creativity with movement, wide-angle imagery, night photography and more!

Learn how to easily transfer your images to your computer, then how to resize and sharpen them using the Adobe Photoshop Elements image processor to create prints, email images to family and friends, or to upload them to social media.

An evening of hands-on, outdoor night photography at Stewart Hall is included!

Four stimulating assignments with helpful critiques and a nightly Q&A session will boost your skills!

12.5 hours over 5 evenings - from 7:30 pm to 10 pm at Stewart Hall

Skill Level Intermediate. Suggested pre-requisite Digital Photo 101

Mostly in English, with questions answered in English and French.
For DSLR and mirrorless cameras!
Bring your camera and operating manual.

Maximum class size: 10

Course Outline:

- How to effectively use Manual mode for movement, night imagery, silhouettes, time-lapse photography, panoramic images and more!
- How to create dreamy landscapes & feathery waterfalls with slow shutter speeds and Neutral Density (ND) filters
- Mastering exposure compensation for better-exposed images
- Metering Modes: when & how to use Matrix/Evaluative, Center-weight and Spot meter modes
- How to use selective focus and large Apertures to create creamy smooth backgrounds to give your images impact!
- Learn new flash fill techniques combining natural light with on and off-camera electronic flash

Adobe Photoshop Elements basics:

- How to adjust the exposure, colour, and saturation
- How to use the Shadow and highlight adjustment tool
- How to use Noise Reduction for high ISO images
- How to effectively use the Dodge, Burn, Clone and Healing tools
- How to crop your images for printing and display
- How to add type and borders to enhance your images
- How to resize and sharpen your images for printing, email, or social media

Four unique photo assignments with easy-to-follow instructions, will help you practice techniques learned in class. Workshop assignments will be projected onto the BIG screen to provide helpful critiques of your photo projects.
