This workshop is designed for DSLR camera owners. Learn to shoot and process your images using the RAW format and achieve better exposure control utilizing the Histogram. Take creative control under Manual mode, using selective focus, TTL flash fill and other techniques for superior photographs. Portraiture, landscape and night photography will also be covered. Workshop assignments and image critiques will be given.
12 1/2 hours over 5 nights - from 7pm till 9:30pm
Session 1: starts Wednesday October 27, November 3, 10, 24 & December 1, 2010
Skill level Intermediate. Suggested pre-requisite: Digital Photo 1
Recommended for persons with digital SLR (DSLR) cameras such as
Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Sony etc.
Bring your camera and operating manual.
Presented mostly in English.

RAW – What it is, How to use it
The Histogram – How to Read and Use Successfully
Metering – Matrix, Center Weight, Spot modes
Exposure (EV) Compensation
Selective Focus – Using DOF (Depth of Field) Effectively
Flash Fill – How to use it Indoors and Outdoors
Photoshop Basics :
- Using Curves and Levels to Improve an Image
- Dodge, Burn, and Clone tools
- Selective Colour to control and eliminate colour casts
- Shadow and Highlight adjustment
- Sharpening – How much is too much, and
Getting the best results for the Web and Prints
Each week a handout will be given with the evening’s topic providing some detailed infor- mation. A weekly photo assignment will be given to help participants practice techniques learned in the workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring in their cameras with flash cards to evaluate and provide, helpful critique of the project images.
