Designed exclusively for DSLR camera owners (Digital Single Lens Reflex), in this advanced, hands-on workshop, you will learn how to shoot and process your images using the RAW format, achieving better exposure control utilizing the histogram, and by taking creative control using Manual mode, selective focus, TTL flash fill and other techniques for superior imagery.

Portraiture, landscape and night photography will also be covered. Learn how to process your images with Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 or 10, or with Photoshop CS 4 or 5. Workshop assignments and helpful image critiques will be given.

12 1/2 hours over 5 consecutive nights - from 7pm till 9:30pm

Three different sessions to choose from!

Session 1: Thursday, January 26, February 2, 9, 16 & 23, 2012
Session 2: Thursday, March 8, 15, 22, 29 & April 5, 2012
Session 3: Wednesday, April 18, 25, May 2, 9 & 16, 2012

Skill level Intermediate. Suggested prerequisite: Digital Photo 101
Recommended for persons with digital SLR (DSLR) cameras such as
Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Sony etc.
Bring your camera and operating manual.
Presented mostly in English.

RAW – What it is, How to use it
The Histogram – How to Read and Use Successfully
Metering – When to use Matrix, Center Weight, Spot modes
Exposure (EV) Compensation - How to fine tune your imagery
Selective Focus – Using DOF (Depth of Field) Effectively
Flash Fill – How to use it Indoors and Outdoors

Photoshop Elements & CS Basics :

- Using Curves and Levels to Improve an Image
- Dodge, Burn, and Clone tools
- Selective Colour to control and eliminate colour casts
- Shadow and Highlight adjustment
- Sharpening – How much is too much, and
Getting the best results for the Web and Prints

Each week, a handout will be given with the evening’s topic providing detailed information. A weekly photo assignment will help participants practice techniques learned through the workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring in their cameras with flash cards, to evaluate and provide helpful critique of their assignments.
