Designed exclusively for compact “Point & Shoot” camera users, this much requested - second hands-on workshop will show you how to create memorable images by composing with light, colour, and in black and white.
Challenging assignments will spark your creativity, to try something new and innovative with the camera in your hands. You will be taught how to easily process your images with various digital tools in programs like Picasa and Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Learn the art of photography through class projects and helpful critiques.

Skill level Intermediate. Suggested prerequisite: Digital Photo 101
Recommended for anyone using compact cameras such as Nikon,
Canon, Kodak, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, Ricoh etc.
Bring your camera and operating manual.
Presented mostly in English.

Course Outline:
- Digital Camera Menus and Functions
- Wide angle or telephoto - what lens setting is best, and when!
- White Balance refresher – how to adjust it and why it's important
- Exposure (EV) Compensation - How to fine tune your imagery for best exposure
- Adjusting your cam's Quality setting (resolution) for the internet (Facebook) and for printing
Picasa and Photoshop Elements Basics :
- Creating Black & White images
- Adding Sepia toning for the "antique" look
- Contrast and saturation adjustments to create dynamic images
- Easy image touchup with the Dodge, Burn & Healing tools (PS Elements)
- How to resize your images for Facebook albums, emailing and for printing
- Sharpening your images for best results
Each week, a handout will be given with the evening’s topic providing some detailed information. A weekly photo assignment will help participants practice techniques learned through the workshops. Participants are encouraged to bring in their cameras with flash cards, to evaluate and provide helpful critique of their assignments.
