Photoshop - Tips & Techniques

A NEW intensive workshop starting April 2010

TWO - One night sessions of 3 hours
Pointe Claire Cultural Centre
176 chemin Bord-du-Lac / Lakeshore Road
Pointe Claire, Quebec

This three hour, evening workshop is designed for anyone who has taken photographs - be it with a film or digital camera, who wishes to take that next step, and process their images in a photo editing software - in this case Adobe Photoshop CS3 or its sister software Photoshop Elements 8.

Perhaps the images are too dark, or conversely - too bright. Maybe you would like to rejuvenate some old negatives, crop a photo, or just improve and "resize" that massive file, to send some images by email to family and friends.

Opening any image software can be intimidating at first. Many years ago, when I started using first Microsoft Photo Editor and then later Adobe Photoshop 5, my stunned reaction to all the choices was YIKES! ...where do I go from here!

In a step-by-step process, participants will learn how to open a new file, then adjust the brightness, colour and saturation of each image. A demonstration of the clone, healing and blur tools, dodging and burning, selective colour correction, adding borders and type, plus a few special effects will also be performed; before resizing, sharpening and saving - the new and improved image, either for the web or to print.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 & 4 and Photoshop Elements are an image editing software with unlimited possibilities for photographers, artists and creative persons alike. I hope you will attend this three-hour workshop, to learn how to get started on this wonderful adventure!

Participants may bring their laptop computers pre-loaded with either Photoshop CS2, CS3, CS4, or Photoshop Elements 7 or 8. A worksheet and flowchart will be provided, along with a sample image on a USB key, for LIVE, simultaneous hands-on training.

Additional literature and a resource list for further guidance and training is included.
